Take Action: Start Saving Democracy Now

What’s Up? Happy New Year! Now that 2021 is in the books, it's time to really get started winning the 2022 midterm elections and defending democracy. More Perfect Democracy is partnering with several other organizations to break down activist silos and be more efficient. We're forming a coalition with other groups across the country to create, curate, and circulate winning content. We're also officially an Indivisible group and a Swing Left group.

What can you do right now? More Perfect Democracy is having a Kickass Kickoff Meeting on Thursday, January 13th. We'll talk about how create content and get it out effectively. We'll also tell you about some of our upcoming trainings on social media best practices, winning messaging trainings, meme parties, and more! Register here to participate.

Circulate Content:

  1. Post one of these pieces of content about how Dems need to Defend Democracy from the MAGA militants who have been attacking America daily since Jan 1, 2021. (Click on the image to enlarge, then right click/double finger click to "save image as"). Everything you see here is free and open source.

  2. Commit to stop refuting Republican messaging with their own words. It’s time to flip the conversation to our own ground and to start talking about Dems delivering or Rs criming.

  3. Think about whether you would like to participate as a content creator (you don't have to be a professional designer), curator (finding content on the interwebs and sharing it with the group), or circulator (posting in as many places as you can online).

Bottom Line: It’s GO-time. Midterms are in 11 months, and together we can help Dems win more elections at every level. We have succeeded before, and we can do it again, if we work together. Are you with us? Register here for our January 13 meeting.

Watch, Listen, Read, and Follow

Watch: Did you see Biden's speech on the January 6 anniversary? If not, you can watch it here:

Listen: Listen to the podcast Words to Win By with Anat Shenker-Osorio "Our Work is Not Done Yet," on how the Georgia runoff election succeeded last year. It's the best listen in a year, particularly its discussion of High Potential Voters (infrequent voters) and their motivations. More Perfect Democracy follows Anat's strategy as closely as possible.

Read: The Campaigner's interview with Greta Carnes on relational organizing (talking to your friends and family), who led Pete for America's national organizing strategy and came of age in Obama's reelection campaign in Iowa.

Read: Chop Wood, Carry Water. This newsletter is designed to give readers about 5-7 minutes of actions to take each weekday. They get call scripts for your federal representatives, an “Extra Credit” item, a Resistbot script, and something election-related as well. Because electing more progressives up and down the ballot is how we get out of the mess we’re in.

Follow: Andy Slavitt, who ran Biden's pandemic response for the first four months of the administration, breaks down hard-to-understand epidemiology and has up-to-the-minute information on Covid best practices. His podcast, In the Bubble, is one of the most helpful around.
